Base Elevation for Lattice Towers

We’ve added support for defining a base elevation for lattice towers!

With this new input, you can specify how high the tower base sits above the surrounding ground level. This change ensures that your calculations, 3D visualization, wind loading, and drawings  reflect the true placement of the tower, whether it’s directly on the ground, on a raised foundation, or even on top of a building.

By default, the base elevation is set to 0.0 m, so if you don’t need it, you can continue working as before with no changes. But when accuracy demands it, simply adjust the base elevation and Shapemaker will automatically factor it into wind profiles and structural analysis.

Why it matters

  • More realistic wind loading: elevated towers experience stronger wind forces, and now that’s built into your analysis.

  • Accurate visualization: the 3D model and drawings will represent the true position of the tower base above ground level.

  • Flexible usage: ideal for towers on rooftops or other elevated sites.

How to Use It

  1. Open a site and go to the Location tab.

  2. Enter the Base elevation (in meters) relative to the surrounding ground.

  3. View the updated wind profile, 3D model, and drawings to see the impact of the elevation.
